brown recluse kiss my a**!

So last night hubby & I spent 2.5 hrs in the ER. Last Sat. morning he was cutting down the ornamental grasses by our pool and when he was done asked me to look at his leg, behind his knee.
I told him it looked like the got some kind of bite- it was pink and about the size of a dime.

Sunday- the "bite" is now the size of when you put your forefinger and thumb together to do an "ok" sign.... hubby is feeling under the weather- maybe he is coming down with something???

Yesterday I get home and the red part is now about double in size and there is pink radiating around it about 4" all around- it looked NASTY! AND he felt like crap- said he felt like he was getting the flu- all achy etc.

I told him to get in the car- we were going to the ER.
He of course said I was over reacting.....

Guess what? They think he was bitten by a brown recluse spider....

he is now on an antibiotic and they did a lyme test on him "just in case". Poor guy!!!!!

Nice surprise!

Last night cheergirlie surprised us and came home early. She was originally going to come home today and turn around and borrow a car and go visit friends at another college for the weekend. Then come home Sunday return the car and go back to JMU.

Usually my family finds it difficult to surprise me- but she got me! It was great! She came home just in time for dinner with her father and I and then we had the evening just to be together.  So nice!

The engaged one just began another (#3) new job at a local coffee/muffin shop. She already had two other jobs but has been feeling the financial crunch with the wedding soon approaching so she decided to find another job. She is really enjoying it so far and they LOVE her!! My kids are such hard workers!

This weekend is Homecoming for QB1 and tonight is the Powder Puff football game- for which he is the senior girls Offensive coordinator. He made his "girls" a playbook and everything- he is really enjoying it!

The weather this weekend is supposed to be cooler 55-60* but sunny! I am looking forward to it!
Hope you and yours have a great weekend!

Two Horses/ Author Unknown

I received this in an email today and loved it so I wanted to share:

Two Horses/ Author Unknown

Just up the road from my home is a field, with two horses in it. From a distance, each horse looks like any other horse. But if you stop your car, or are walking by, you will notice something quite amazing.... Looking into the eyes of one horse will disclose that he is blind. His owner has chosen not to have him put down, but has made a good home for him.
This alone is amazing.

If you stand nearby and listen, you will hear the sound of a bell. Looking around for the source of the sound, you will see that it comes from the smaller horse in the field. Attached to the horse's halter is a small bell. It lets the blind friend know where the other horse is, so he can follow.

As you stand and watch these two friends, you'll see that the horse with the bell is always checking on the blind horse, and that the blind horse will listen for the bell and then slowly walk to where the other horse is, trusting that he will not be led astray.
When the horse with the bell returns To the shelter of the barn each evening, it stops occasionally and looks back, making sure that the blind friend isn't too far behind to hear the bell.

Like the owners of these two horses, God does not throw us away just because we are not perfect or because we have problems or challenges.
He watches over us and even brings others into our lives to help us when we are in need..
Sometimes we are the blind horse being guided by the little ringing bell of those who God places in our lives.
Other times we are the guide horse, helping others to find their way....
Be kinder than necessary- Everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.
Live simply, Love generously, Care deeply, Speak kindly....... And leave the rest to God!

FOR WE WALK BY FAITH AND NOT BY SIGHT!

JMU bound!

This coming weekend I will be heading to JMU to visit cheergirlie for Parents weekend. Last weekend the Dukes lost in overtime to Maine so I am hoping they beat the pants off of Villanova this upcoming weekend. Cheergirlie sent me a pic as she was leaving for the game.

This is the face of a Geology/Environmental Science major- go figure huh?

It should be a fun weekend- I haven't seen Cheergirlie since early August so I am looking forward to the visit.
