#19 Little things

When you've been with someone as along as I have been with hubby (29 years this July + 8 years prior = 37 years, which according to hubby's calculations is about 74% of our lives to date) it is the little things which can make or break a relationship.

Early on there were differences...
I squeeze the toothpaste where ever- he neatly squeezes from the bottom up.

He drinks out of the containers in the frig... I don't.

He pulls Jars/containers against the back splash on the counter tops out and doesn't push them back- drives me crazy.

I have a tendency to leave lights on, he turns them off.
There are lots of things for both of us-

But...

We still flirt with each other..

He often kisses my hand when he tells me he loves me.

I bake him his favorite cookies.

We have "dates" sometimes just to the grocery store or the home improvement store.

He sometimes brings me flowers "just because".

I still leave him notes "just because".

We both do whatever we can to help around the house.

We take care of each other.

Little things, but it is the little things which mean the most.
Instead of buying a valentine- he wrote me a valentine letter

A little thing but he "decorated" the envelope to my valentine :)

  3. That is very sweet - I think we all have a rhythm to our married lives that is kept in time by the little things.

  5. What a lovely relationship you have. Every couple has their differences, but as long as there are all the good things, the little things, that tips the balance in the right direction.

  9. Wow, Barb. That is really wonderful. Do you suppose I could borrow your hubby for a little bit? Just to give Jepeto a few pointers. Then you can have him back! :-)

  12. Barb, you've got a good thing going. It's great to hear that you and your husband have managed to stay happy and in love for so long. I'm only just getting started on my marriage. Heck, I'm not even married just yet. Your example gives me something to aspire to. :)
