I lost most of my hearing in my right ear about 6 years ago and am left with tinnitis. Tinnitis is a constant high pitched noise (at least for me) that I hear inside my ear all the time- 24/7. They say what I am hearing is the nerve activity of my inner ear. All I know is that it is never quiet anymore- I have gotten used to it, but it can be annoying. The sound and vibration of a fan is my friend- it distracts my brain and makes the tinnitis less noticeable.

I work as a speech therapist in a public high school- many of my students have trouble visualizing and expressing themselves. I try to explain to them that often the world is not what it seems and that we need to use our language & words to truly understand...
When the kids come in this is what they see directly above my head:

By far the shinest things I own... my 3 rings. I wear these rings every day. Before we got married hubby said to me " I can either get you a nice engagement ring or we can put a down payment on a house."

I chose the house.

In the past 28 years he has more than made up for my choosing to forgo an engagement ring as you can see. :)
