30 Minus 2 Days of Writing
Or as I like to refer to it... the OMG are you an idiot for agreeing to do this writing challenge?
See the other masochists participants Nicky has strong-armed invited over at We Work for Cheese.
When I saw this prompt I immediately thought of this song... this song speaks to me in many different ways. Any of you who read my blog (all 35 of you -I know I'm small potatoes) know this.:)
I struggle with my weight...
recently I lost 40 lbs... but I have faltered... and gained half of it back. *sigh*
It is a continuing struggle for me.
Just before Christmas I began working with a new trainer (Alex) and he told me to stop obsessing over the calories and concentrate on moving and challenging myself physically.
He kicks my ass every workout!
The scale hasn't really moved much, but again I have not been strict with my eating. However I can feel a difference physically, I am getting stronger and am able to do more cardio. Alex tells me to be patient and to keep pushing myself, and to make small dietary changes.
Changes which will be easier for me to live with.
It's a leap of faith, but I'm going to "hold on" and do just that. :)
Take a look:
Good luck! This topic is also in the running for my "hold on" post.
ReplyDeleteGood luck. I too hold on to excess weight. Mine's baby weight. I lost a good portion of it with breast feeding but she's been weaned for 9 1/2 years and it's been a struggle since.
ReplyDeleteI have a different problem. I've been sick lately and lost 20 pounds because I had no appetite. Now I have problems holding on to my pants because they keep falling down. So be careful what you wish for!.
ReplyDeleteGood for you! Lifestyle changes are tough!
ReplyDeleteYou are right to go with small changes. It's not a diet, it's a lifestyle. Congrats on holding on to your goals.
ReplyDeleteHey "Mom"! I'm currently losing (and struggling!) but doing well with the help of a great friend who's doing the same. Keep at it. Indigo
ReplyDeleteCongratulations for getting yourself a good trainer and sticking with it. If you're building muscle, it weighs more than fat so rather than obsessing over what the scale says, focus on how your clothes fit and how you feel. Good use of the prompt! Hold on!
ReplyDeleteHang in there, Barb, it's a long and tough road, but so gratifying in the end. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm an old hand of holding on to extra pounds. Keep the faith, sistah!
ReplyDeleteI, too, have the opposite problem - I am less than 100 pounds and cannot put on weight. No fun. I'll gladly take your extra pounds...but can you inject them into my boobs? Boobs are always the first to go. :(
ReplyDeleteFirst -- crap on the video. Seems a few of us were thinking that! Second, I am with you on the weight thing. I lost a bunch, got some back and am back on the down. Good luck and keep it up!
ReplyDeleteHey, good work on having the determination to stick with the weight-loss thing. I think that next to cocaine addiction, it's one of the hardest things a human can do.
ReplyDeleteNot that I know anything about cocaine, mind you. I just made that up.
I commend you for trying. About two years ago, I lost thirty pounds. I have since gained back about twenty. I'm exercising again -- and hopefully this time, I'll keep the weight off. Maintaining a healthy lifestyle is a lot harder than it should be sometimes.
